Dehydrated apple chips: a 2-ingredient workday snack

When I want a snack I can grab on a workday, I make apple chips. Two ingredients, apples and hemp seeds, no frying, and the dehydrator does the work while I do something else. I dry mine at 135°F.

What you need

How to make them

  1. Wash and core the apples.
  2. Slice them thin and as even as you can, so every chip dries at the same speed.
  3. Sprinkle the hemp seeds over the slices.
  4. Lay the slices in a single layer on the trays, not overlapping.
  5. Dry at 135°F until they’re crisp. Thin slices usually take several hours; check them and pull any that finish early.
  6. Let them cool all the way before you store them. They crisp up more as they cool.

Storing

Keep them in an airtight container. For grab-and-go portions I use Bentgo Prep containers.
