When I want a snack I can grab on a workday, I make apple chips. Two ingredients, apples and hemp seeds, no frying, and the dehydrator does the work while I do something else. I dry mine at 135°F.
What you need
- Apples
- Hemp seeds
- A food dehydrator. Mine is a COSORI Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator (6 trays).
How to make them
- Wash and core the apples.
- Slice them thin and as even as you can, so every chip dries at the same speed.
- Sprinkle the hemp seeds over the slices.
- Lay the slices in a single layer on the trays, not overlapping.
- Dry at 135°F until they’re crisp. Thin slices usually take several hours; check them and pull any that finish early.
- Let them cool all the way before you store them. They crisp up more as they cool.
Storing
Keep them in an airtight container. For grab-and-go portions I use Bentgo Prep containers.
